Len Roberts

Len lives on the family farm/eucalypt plantation with his wife Sue, at Tea Gardens, NSW.  He is seeking your support to fill the Upper House casual vacancy. The following, highlights his story.

At a Glance

Len Roberts,  graduated with a BA, Grad. Dip. Comp., Dip Sp. Ed., and also holds a certificate in Archaeological fieldwork, from Tel Aviv University, Israel.  Len was born in Werris Creek, moved to  Sydney, then lived in Wagga, Deniliquin, Booroorban, Bathurst and Tea Gardens. Len had a distinguished career in Education and was a successful small business owner, before becoming, a Pastor and Archaeologist.

Currently Len volunteers as the CEO of the Local Aboriginal Land Council.  He also has 27 years local government experience including a stint on the Local Government Appeals Tribunal. Len received a Bicentennial Medal for services to the community and church. Len is actively involved in the National Party including standing for the Nationals in the state seat of Port Stephens.

Archaeologist

Len has worked on archaeological projects in Australia and overseas. He has undertaken archaeological work for various government and non-government organisations The projects have ranged from small aquaculture (at sea), industrial and residential projects to large rezoning proposals, as well as linear surveys for sewerage treatment upgrades, pipelines, transmission lines, wind farms, rail line upgrades and highways.  Len has recorded in excess of 1,000 Aboriginal objects and has authored in excess of 150 reports. Local Government

Len served on Blacktown Council for 10 years. When first elected, he was the youngest alderman elected to a council in NSW. After a  13 year break, he was elected to Great Lakes and has been on the council for the past 17 years. He served as Deputy Mayor. Len is known by the people as "one who listens and gets things done". He is pictured here listening to the concerns of residents.

Pastor

In 2006, Len was instrumental in establishing Tea Gardens Baptist Church and was appointed Hon Pastor. Apart from the usual activities associated with church, Len has ministered to the community in times of crisis. He is well known for his care and compassion.
 

Teacher

Having lived and attended school in Sydney, Len couldn't wait to get back to the country. He attended Wagga Wagga Teachers' College before teaching at Deniliquin and Booroorban. He specialised in Special Education and taught emotionally disturbed adolescents.He was s promoted to a Home School Liaison Officer and moved to the Hunter. In 2nd semester, 2011, he lectured in English, at Beifang University, Yinchuan, China.
